Cucumber Gimlet

Slide into spring as cool as a cucumber with this delicious, refreshing twist on a traditional Gimlet!

First, make sure you've got the right tools for the job:

Next, let's make something delicious!

Inside the Porthole:
  • 130g cucumbers (2 mini cucumbers), washed and sliced into round or oval slices
  • 2-3 sprigs of fresh mint, leaves washed
Liquid to be Added:
  • 1¾ oz (50 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • ½ oz (15 ml) simple syrup
  • 8½ oz (250 ml) your favorite gin
To Assemble and Serve:

Arrange the infusion ingredients inside the Porthole. Close the Porthole, tighten screw, and check the seal for good contact on both sides.

Next, combine the liquid ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker or Mason jar. Shake until chilled. Transfer this mixture into the assembled Porthole through the spout.

This cocktail is best when infused at least 1 hour, up to around 4 hours.

Tips:

  • A well-sealed Porthole can be refrigerated.
  • This infusion can be served simply over ice, or topped with chilled sparkling or tonic water for some extra snazz.
  • Experiment to make this your own! White rum could be a nice substitute, or tequila/mezcal.
